"Getting the most out of your advertising dollar"
The Business
Journal,
East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia's Business Magazine, March 15,1998
Trust is also
essential to getting true value in an advertising relationship. "An
agency must have complete and pertinent information about the company's
products, profit goals, competition, etc. in order to perform
properly," says Robin Keith, president and CEO of Masengill Marketing
Associates in Morristown, TN. "The company must be sure that sensitive
and confidential information can be trusted in the hands of the agency.
Once this trust is established, the flow of information can be free."
"Successful marketing requires an adequate financial investment,"
says Keith. "A company cannot expect the results they are looking for
without making the investment it requires. When companies are willing to do
these things, the possibilities for success are greatly enhanced."

Reprinted from The
Citizen Tribune, March 2, 1997
Bringing the grand
total to over 800 national and regional awards, Masengill Marketing
Associates has recently received 31 more top awards for excellence in
marketing and advertising. The 31 awards were received from The American
Advertising Federation, Admissions Marketing Report Consortium and the
Silver Microphone Institute. Admissions Marketing Report Consortium is the
prestigious national organization that awards excellence in advertising for
college and university communication throughout the United States. From a field
of over 1,200 entries from across the nation, Masengill received awards for
radio and television commercials, newspaper advertisements, brochure design
as well as other categories. The coveted Silver Microphone statuette is
awarded for superior communication in radio and audio. The competition
recognizes the best local and regional radio commercials created by
advertising agencies, production companies and radio stations in the United
States. The American Advertising Federation is the source of the now famous
"Addy" award. "Build a better mouse trap and the world will
beat a path to your door is flatly no longer true," said company
chairman, Ralph Masengill, Jr. "Today it takes more than a superior
product or service to increase market share. Doubt it? Ask the people at
Apple Computer. We have the privilege of telling the people of America, and
the South specifically, about how our clients' products and services can
best satisfy their customers' needs. We judge our success primarily by our
clients' enhanced bottom line. Winning awards is exciting icing on our
marketing and public relations cake." Masengill Marketing Associates,
located in Morristown, TN, is a full-service marketing and public relations
company serving customers across North America. To date Masengill has
received over 810 national and regional awards in virtually every major

specialized communications companies operating on a national and
international basis.

Top Total Quality Agency In U.S.
Reprinted from
The Knoxville News Sentinel
Masengill Marketing
Associates was recently judged the top Total Quality in Advertising (TQA)
marketing and advertising agency in America. The agency will be used as a
national model. Over 1,000 agencies in the U.S. were observed before the
top agency was found. The agency has been practicing the Dr. Edwards Deming
Method of Quality Management for over two years. In its roll as national
quality model on the 27th and 28th of this month, agencies from nine
Eastern states are flying into East Tennessee to interview and observe the
Masengill staff and senior management team. Stuart Sanders, president and
CEO of the company that did the interviews, the Sanders Consulting group of
Richmond, Va., and London, England, said, "This has been a three year
project. We have looked at over 1,000 marketing and advertising agencies
and Masengill is the winner hands down. I must say we were surprised to
find the number one quality agency located outside one of the major 100
metro markets. What has happened here in Morristown is truly remarkable,
and we salute Ralph and his team of quality professionals. The fact the
agency has agreed to share their quality knowledge with the rest of the
advertising industry says much about the character of this agency's
management and staff." Masengill won based on overall marketing and
advertising creativity, professional attitude of the staff, profitability,
client retention, quality of production (print and video), ease of
management style, and other quality attributes. Agency president Ralph
Masengill Jr. said, "Many great things have happened to this agency
team. But this has got to top the list. To be judged the number one agency
in the United States is more than we ever expected. It is a humbling
experience to have your peers from all over the nation seek you out as the
nation's quality model." Masengill Marketing Associates is a full-service
communication group offering print, television, radio, outdoor, and full
marketing services to its clients. Established in 1979, it is a member of
numerous national and regional groups as well as five national database
research and development networks. The agency has 12 associate offices
throughout the United States and Canada. The Morristown-based agency has
won over 150 national and regional awards for marketing and advertising
excellence. (Note: Since this story first appeared, the total number of awards
Masengill Marketing Associates has won has increased to over 800. )

Holds Seminar On New Research System
Reprinted from The
Greeneville Sun, a paper with the second largest circulation in East
Tennessee
Ralph Masengill Jr.,
president of Masengill Marketing Associates, recently presented a three
hour seminar about a new, exclusive service called Tapscan to the staffs of
the Tri-Cities major newspapers. Masengill explained the dynamics of this
new marketing and research system to executives of the Johnson City Press,
the Kingsport Times-News, the Bristol Herald Courier and the Sullivan
County News. He compared the advantages and disadvantages of each of the
major advertising medias in East Tennessee, using a series of charts and
graphs, making extensive use of Tapscan. This new marketing and research
system allows the agency to know on a 15-minute basis all the demographics
of every radio and television station in East Tennessee. The system will
also compare one media against another and then can combine radio, tv, and
newspaper medias together to give the client the best exposure. Masengill
Marketing Associates is the only full service agency in East Tennessee with
this new, state-of-the-art marketing service. The 50 newspaper executives
met at the Garden Plaza Hotel in Johnson City to hear Masengill's
presentation.
